All applications must be made via our online application form. We regret that we cannot accept applications made by any other means.
The selection process consists of four stages:

Each application is considered on its merit and as long as each selected candidate meets the required standards we would consider offering a part-time training contract.
We prefer applicants to have a minimum 2:1 at degree level.
We do not automatically dismiss those with a lower qualification. However, due to the high number of applications we receive each year it may be more difficult to gain a place on our short list. At Blake Morgan we look for more than just academic achievement and do consider candidates with a 2:2 if they can demonstrate, in their examples, that they have something more to offer, i.e. high-quality work experience within a legal setting.
Yes, Blake Morgan has a diverse workforce and we welcome applicants with wider work experience and education. You will be required to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) or the Common Professional Examination (CPE) in addition to the Legal Practice Course (LPC) prior to the commencement date of the training contract year for which you are applying.
GCSE - A-C grades
A Level ABB minimum
Work experience placements are only offered to candidates who are applying to the firm for a training contract. Due to the large number of requests we receive each year, we cannot accommodate placements outside of our graduate vacation scheme. Read more on our work experience schemes.
The recruitment process for 2017 and 2018 training contracts and 2016 vacation schemes are open now. Closing dates for these are as follows:
All applications will be reviewed once the set deadlines have passed.
We may have vacancies for earlier start dates so please ensure you confirm your earliest start date accurately on your application form to ensure you are considered.
As Blake Morgan is an all service firm, most electives will benefit you during your training contract with us.
We currently offer financial assistance to help pay for your LPC fees. Monies will be paid out on the day you commence your training contract with the firm. The exact amount can be given on request.
We also offer a subsistence grant to assist with the cost of living whilst studying your LPC (please note this is only available to those studying full time and is paid out on the first day of your LPC course).
We currently do not offer financial assistance towards the GDL.
Our current intake of trainees per year is 20.
The volumes of applications we receive make it difficult to give individual feedback on performance at assessment day should you be unsuccessful. We will endeavour to provide you with your test results from the day where possible. Further feedback is available to those who have been unsuccessful at second interview.
Training is carefully structured and designed to provide variety, responsibility and intellectual challenge. Normally you will have a series of placements lasting three or six months in a range of divisions.
You would not be excluded from applying for the position as trainee solicitor.
We offer training contracts at all of our offices. We divide the firm regionally into:
Trainee solicitors will be recruited and based regionally.
You will be asked to confirm which regions you are applying for on the application. Please only select a second choice if you would be truly willing to relocate.
Our recruitment process for 2020 training contracts and 2018 vacation scheme will open on 2 November.
You can apply for a training contract with / without vacation scheme through our 'online application form'.
