“There is a structured support network available throughout your training and all the usual recruitment clichés are actually true. Learning and development is prioritised and there's no such thing as a wasted question. Also, and most importantly, the firm know how to unwind and ensure a good work-life balance, which is greatly helped by the regular office drinks.”
Training is carefully structured and designed to provide variety, responsibility and intellectual challenge.
Normally you will have a series of placements lasting three or six months in a range of departments, as well as the possibility to go on a secondment with one of our clients. Working with a partner or associate the aim is to give you experience of a wide range of clients and work in both the private and commercial areas.
Within each placement, your supervisor will involve you directly in work so you learn from personal experience as well as observation and instruction. The more competence you demonstrate, the more responsibility we will give you.
We provide a wide range of in-house courses to supplement your professional education. You will have appraisal meetings every three months with your seat supervisor to review your progress and plan your training to meet the business and your needs.
Our recruitment process for 2020 training contracts and 2018 vacation scheme is open on 2 November. To apply for a training contract with / without vacation scheme please go to our online application form.
We promote from within wherever we can and our preference for organic growth generates a steady stream of opportunities. Many of our current partners, senior solicitors and team managers are former trainees.
Progress is based on merit and we have formal criteria for promotion to solicitor and associate. We are always thinking about future partners and at all stages of your career we will be looking for evidence that you have the breadth of ability one day to take that step.
We offer no guarantees of success - only opportunities to succeed.
