Selection process

The selection process consists of four stages:

Stage one

Initial review of applications. Those applications showing evidence of thorough research, awareness of Blake Morgan and distinctive personal achievement are more likely to succeed. From this review, successful candidates will be invited to a telephone interview, with the Graduate Recruitment team.

Stage two

Those who are successful will be invited in to the next stage of the process; a first stage interview and individual presentation. First stage interviews will be taking place regionally. The interview panel will consist of an Associate and a member of the HR team. The interview will incorporate a 15 minute presentation; you will be given the subject for the presentation in advance of your interview date, to allow you time to prepare.

After your interview a current trainee solicitor will take you for a brief tour around the office. A final short-list of around 30-35 candidates will then be drawn up, taking into consideration a number of factors including previous commercial work experience, your application and interview.

Stage three

Short-listed candidates will be invited along to a second interview panel. At this interview you will be asked to consider a legal scenario. We recruit 12-16 trainees per year from this stage to progress to stage four. 

Stage four

Offers and reserves. Candidates are told as soon as possible following the second interview whether they have been successful or not. If the number of successful candidates exceeds the number of places available, some candidates may be offered a place on the reserve list. If a place then becomes available it will be offered to a reserve.
