Return to work: what should employers consider?
Around 935,000 employers are now participating in the Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, better known as the furlough scheme. According to recent reports, the scheme is estimated to cost £10 billion a month and the number of furloughed workers is currently around 7.5 million. The ongoing cost of the scheme is considerable and so there was some surprise at the Chancellor’s recent announcement that the scheme will be extended to the end of October.
Following on from our Employment law webinar of 9 April, Blake Morgan’s Employment law Partner Rajiv Joshi, Partner Claire Rawle, Associate Holly Cudbill and Senior Practice Support Lawyer, Debra Gers, hosted a live webinar which:
- Considered what changes are on the horizon for the furlough scheme.
- Provided an overview of the recently published guidance on making workplaces COVID-19 secure.
- Identified the challenges facing employers who have already opened, or are considering re-opening, their workplaces.
- Discussed some of the common questions we are being asked by our clients.
