We are pleased to be able to share with you the details of our new GDPR Update: Practitioner Certificate course:
- Course: GDPR Update: Practitioner Certificate
- Date: TBC
- Venue: TBC
- Cost: TBC
This is a two day course for individuals who already hold the BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection (i.e. those who passed the exam before 1 December 2017). The course is aimed at those who want to understand more about the GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act, improve their understanding of the changes that these will bring in processing personal data, and be able to practically apply the new requirements. After the course, there will be an exam which you will need to pass in order to obtain the Certificate.
Our course will include discussion sessions, case studies and practical examples to create a lively and stimulating atmosphere. In the past, we have found that this provides practitioners the opportunity to share best practice. We will cover the following topics:
- Background to the GDPR
- GDPR definitions and terminology
- The new data protection principles
- Special categories of personal data
- Lawfulness of processing
- Data subject rights
- Data controller and data processor obligations
- Transfers of personal data
- Powers of the ICO
Our training course will be delivered by Mererid McDaid. Mererid is an experienced data protection lawyer and accredited BCS trainer.
