Good governance of universities

A new voluntary governance code for UK universities has been published by The Committee of University Chairs (CUC).

The 25-page guide aims to provide clear and concise guidance for higher education governing councils in a user-friendly format.  The code sets out "the principles and practices which any organisation operating within the sector will need to apply in order to show that it conducts its business with due respect for the public interest".

It has been fully revised and slimmed down from the 150 pages of the previous version, originally produced in 2004. It has also been designed to ensure it is accessible by an audience beyond just governing bodies. To view the new code, please click here.
