New London infrastructure plan

The Mayor has just announced the launch of a consultation for a new London Infrastructure Plan 2050 which will run for three months. A final report is expected in early 2015.

A total of £1.3 trillion is anticipated to be invested in the Capital including improving and extending tube services, approving Crossrail 2 as well as building a series of new river crossings.  There is no doubt that investment is long overdue  particularly with demand for public transport expected to increase by 50%. Boris Johnson said "This Plan is a real wake-up call to the stark needs that face London over the next half century".  Growth is expected to be retained within brownfield land at least until 2025.
