Blake Morgan Regulatory Seminar and Summer Drinks
We are delighted to invite you to our evening seminar and summer drinks event, which we are holding in collaboration with Serjeants Inn Chambers on Wednesday 6 June.
We are now all familiar with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation. This event will not explain again what it says but rather focus on the risks that organisations now face in relation to it and how they can safeguard against those risks.
The evening will begin with a brief review of recent key developments in the professional disciplinary sector, delivered by Bradley Albuery, Regulatory Practice Group Leader at Blake Morgan.
We will then hear from Rachel Spearing, a regulatory and data law specialist in the Business & Specialist Crime Team at Serjeants Inn, who is an approved prosecutor for the Information Commissioner's Office.
The panel discussion that will follow Rachel's talk will be chaired by His Honour Brian Barker CBE QC, the former Recorder of London and veteran of numerous high profile inquests and inquiries. The panel will also include Sarah Clarke QC, Head of the Business & Specialist Crime Team at Serjeants Inn and Nick Leale, Professional Regulatory Team Leader at Blake Morgan .
The session will allow attendees to:
- Develop an awareness of GDPR business risk;
- Be able to plan a practical response to those risks;
- Understand the use, process and reporting of internal inquiries for criminal & regulatory matters.
Our key speakers will cover:
Evaluating Risks & Strategy for managing GDPR compliance within organisations.
A practical review and evaluation of GDPR risks, with strategic solutions to safeguard organisations. This short presentation is designed to stimulate further discussion for the Q&A panel session and assist participants in complying with the new provisions and managing business risk.
Interactive Panel Discussion ‘Managing Internal Investigations’
Chaired by: HH Brian Barker, QC, CBE
Sarah Clarke QC and Rachel Spearing alongside Nick Leale from Blake Morgan provide insights for the use, purpose, preparation, and practicalities of conducting reviews and internal investigations for criminal and regulatory matters.

The presentation and panel discussion will be followed by networking and refreshments. We look forward to seeing you there.
