Blake Morgan's Network training - Justice in Wales
We would like to invite you to our forthcoming Network training seminar at our Cardiff office on Thursday 21 February 2019, specifically for Blake Morgan clients.
Debra Gers of Blake Morgan will be joined by Simon Davies, a member of the Commission on Justice in Wales. Simon will discuss the Commission’s initial findings and it’s impact on the public sector in Wales.
The Commission on Justice in Wales has been set up by the Welsh Government to review the operation of the justice system in Wales and set a long term vision for its future. Simon will discuss the role of the Commission and its potential impact on public , private sector businesses in Wales.
Simon was most recently the Chief People, Legal and Strategy Officer and a member of the Executive Committee of Lloyds Banking Group, following 25 years at Linklaters, the last eight of those years as Firmwide Managing Partner.
The introduction of Employment Tribunal fees in summer 2013 was controversial from the outset and the lawfulness of the fees regime was challenged almost immediately by UNISON. One of its arguments was that the imposition of fees prevented access to justice. After four years of litigation, the Supreme Court agreed. Debra will discuss what has been the impact of the Supreme Court's decision and can we expect any changes in the future?
