Consultation launched on changes to the regulation of independent schools
On 23 June 2014 the Government launched a consultation on new draft regulations aimed at raising standards in Independent Schools.
The proposals include the introduction of a new management and leadership standard, strengthening the quality of the education standard and various other standards, changing how complaints are handled, and introducing a new requirement for schools to publish inspection reports on their websites.
The consultation closes on 4 August 2014 in respect of two of the proposals and on 18 August 2014 in respect of the remaining proposals. Dependent upon the outcome of the consultation, the target date for implementation is September 2014 for two of the proposals and October half-term 2014 for the remainder.
