New CILEx CEO announced

The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives ["CILEx"] has announced that Mandie Lavin is to be appointed as their new Chief Executive from 1 January 2015. Miss Lavin takes over from Diane Burleigh OBE who retires at the end of the year. Miss Lavin is currently the director of regulation at the General Optical Council.

Selina Ullah, lay member, reappointed by the General Optical Council for a second term

Selina Ullah's new term will begin on 1 September 2014 and expire on 31 August 2019. She was originally appointed to the Council in August 2011. A copy of Selina Ullah's biography is available from the General Optical Council's website.

NMC welcomes Professor Dame Janet Finch as new Chair to lead Council

From 1 January 2015 Professor Dame Janet Finch will sit as the new Chair of the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Dame Janet brings substantial experience to the NMC which she gained as Vice Chancellor of Keele University from 1995-2010 and subsequently, in a number of non-executive director roles. She is currently a member of the Medical Research Council and Science and Technology Honours Committee, amongst other roles.

New Chair of the GMC Council

Professor Terence Stephenson has been appointed by the Privy Council as the new Chair of the General Medical Council ["GMC"].  Professor Stephenson is currently Nuffield Professor of Child Health at the Institute of Child Health at University College London, Honorary Consultant Paediatrician at UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust & Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, and current Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.  He will take up his appointment on 1 January 2015.
