A team of legal experts from law firm Blake Morgan took the plunge in a Swimathon in aid of The Rowans Hospice.

The Swimathon, which saw the team complete more than 150 lengths of the pool at St Swithuns School in Winchester in 55 minutes, contributed £1,337 towards Blake Morgan's ongoing support of the Waterlooville hospice, which is dedicated to improving the lives of people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

The firm also chipped in funds of £895 from fees raised for swearing client documents, savings from sending digital rather than paper Christmas cards and donations for completed employee opinion surveys.

Throughout the year, staff raised a further £1,477 through various office fundraisers, a sale of office furniture and a 30-mile sponsored bike ride by archives assistant, Graham Smith, contributing £503.

In total, the Blake Morgan support for The Rowans Hospice in 2012/13 stands at £3,972 and counting.

Simon Burge, a partner at Blake Morgan and leader of the Swimathon team, said: "We are big supporters of the fantastic work of The Rowans Hospice and so the team went all out to get a good result both in the pool and in the bank.

"Across the firm there have been lots of activities designed to add to our total and we have plenty more to come."

Ruth White, Chief Executive of The Rowans Hospice, said: "We are tremendously grateful to Blake Morgan for their fundraising efforts and their continued support, it makes such a difference to the lives of people affected by life-limiting illnesses in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire.”
