Blake Morgan praised as leaders in Legal Directory

Blake Morgan’s leading teams and most respected individuals have achieved prestigious top rankings in the most authoritative guide to the legal profession in the UK.

The 2016 edition of the legal directory Chambers and Partners UK, published today, describes Blake Morgan’s teams as "commercial and pragmatic" in the south, “fantastic” in the Thames Valley region and “market leading” in Wales.

Blake Morgan is ranked in the directory in 57 practice areas, with 20 achieving the top tier 1 ranking and 24 in tier 2.

Three of the firm's national practices have been ranked as being National Leaders outside of London, Banking and Finance, Employment and Litigation which demonstrates the depth of expertise available across the firm.

In Wales, there is praise for a “go-to” firm with top-tier rankings in practices including social housing, real estate, restructuring and insolvency and administrative and public law.

In the south, where the firm has offices in Portsmouth and Southampton, the directory describes Blake Morgan as a “significant regional firm” which has “gravitas in the market” and top-ranked specialisms in employment, pensions, private client, agricultural and rural affairs and professional negligence.

Blake Morgan’s teams are praised as “brilliant and helpful”, “responsive” and “committed to the highest level of customer services” in the Thames Valley, where the firm’s Oxford and Reading-based teams achieve tier 1 rankings for expertise in construction, family and matrimonial, planning and social housing. 

The firm’s “exceptional” London-based real estate team is ranked for the first time thanks to Blake Morgan’s recent merger with Piper Smith Watton.

There is praise across the teams and regions for 83 ranked lawyers. Among 32 of those ranked in the top Band 1 category is Bradley Albuery, who heads the professional regulatory group and is described as “a recognised expert with huge experience”.

Emyr Lewis, who is Blake Morgan’s regional senior partner for Wales, is top ranked for his expertise in administration and public affairs and is described as “very bright and well respected”.

Nicola McConville, a partner in the corporate team in the Thames Valley, achieves a top rank with praise for her ability to come up with “simple yet effective solutions” to complex legal issues.

Sara Hanrahan, partner and head of the London Planning team is ranked in London and described as being "Very good at dealing with clients and making things simple to understand without legal mumbo jumbo."

Chambers UK: A Client’s Guide to the Legal Profession is compiled from research including interviews with clients and other law firms and is widely respected as the leading legal guide in the UK.
