Family Centre's thanks for children's gifts
Staff at Oxford law firm Blake Morgan have been thanked for donating presents to children who receive help from social services.
In all 56 gifts were donated by the firm, which co-ordinated the “Secret Santa” scheme, while a further 37 came from an anonymous donor and 23 were given by Abingdon construction consultants AECOM.
In a thank-you note to the scheme’s organisers, Rachel Hills, of Oxford Littlemore Hub, which works with young people and families in need of support, said:
“I would like to thank you on behalf of my families for the wonderful gifts that you have so generously given. The children’s faces when they opened their presents brought tears to my eyes!”
Social services passed on the first names, ages and gift ideas for children and young people who had been identified as someone who would benefit from a little extra Christmas cheer.
Staff chose a gift tag to decide who they wanted to buy for and then spent their own money on a suitable present, before wrapping it and attaching the tag. The presents were collected at Blake Morgan’s Seacourt Tower offices just before Christmas by Delia Mann and Alison Barlow from Oxfordshire Social Services.
The scheme was co-ordinated by Chloe Hubbert, an associate in the family law team. Firms which would like to take part in the project next year are invited to email Chloe.
