Iain has over 20 years’ experience acting on commercial property matters and in particular for landlords and tenants on retail matters, dealing with shopping centres, out of town retail, factory outlets and high street parades.
Iain has vast knowledge and experience of portfolio management, including concessions and franchising. Acting for some of the country’s major multiple retailers for many years, Iain has first class knowledge of the retail environment and of the commercial drivers for both landlords and tenants.

His clients include large institutional landlords, retail landlords and tenants, groups of occupiers as well as the smaller property entrepreneurs, private investors and SIPPs.
Iain has sound experience in all aspects of landlord & tenant law. He has a proven track record on shopping malls, retail parks, industrial estates, as well as warehouses. Tenants include companies and retailers, groups of occupiers and individual tenants.

Acting for well-established portfolio tenants in the grant and renewal of primarily retail leases, subleases, licences to assign/sublet/alter, surrenders and excluded tenancies/licences to occupy.
Dealt with volume roll out programmes for national and international retailers.
Dealt with volume intergroup transfers between sister retail brands. 140 in a one year period
Involved in volume acquisition and building of a 200 strong pharmacy chain (NHS Pharmacy Contracts and where relevant property acquisition)
Dealt with generation of circa £5 million rent savings by way of a series of c. 80 lease re-gears over an 18 month period
Dealt with programme for generation of several million pounds in rent savings for a retail client by way of intergroup transfers backed by guarantees, c. 90 transactions across an 18 month period
Dealt with rapid franchise roll out, c. 150 matters across a two year period
