Posted on 5th August 2020
The latest designs for Hendre Lakes, a proposed new business district to the south of St Mellons Business Park which will be served by Cardiff Parkway railway station, have been unveiled as part of a five-week consultation period which gets underway today.

The 90,000sqm Cardiff Hendre Lakes development, which includes Cardiff Parkway railway station, aims to bring connectivity, jobs and investment to South Wales. The development will make a significant contribution to the regeneration of east Cardiff and the growth ambitions of the Cardiff Capital Region. The development has the potential to support up to 6,000 jobs, as well as becoming a transport hub, helping people access other employment opportunities across South Wales and beyond.

Blake Morgan’s real estate and property litigation teams have been working with the Cardiff Parkway Developments project team since 2016. The team has advised on the land assembly and negotiations with a number of landowners, to secure over 200 acres of land for the planned development.

James Egan, Real Estate Partner, said: “We are pleased to be part of the team working on bringing the ambitious vision for Cardiff Parkway and Hendre Lakes to life.

“The project aims to help unlock growth across South Wales by connecting businesses with high-quality facilities, people and skills while delivering a range of benefits for the local community. We are proud to have supported the team on the journey so far. We look forward to working with the Cardiff Parkway team as the project advances.”

Nigel Roberts, Chairman of Cardiff Parkway Developments, said: “Our proposals are for a sustainable, well-connected and safe development. This unique development will bring investment to the region, create new employment opportunities, and connect people to a historic landscape. The project is a step closer to reality as we hit this next milestone of the pre-application consultation.

“Despite the challenges of the last few months, behind the scenes we have been working hard to continue developing our proposals. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the consultant team for all their hard work and enthusiasm, particularly during the last few months. I am excited to now be able to share the next iteration of the proposals with stakeholders and the local community before we submit our planning applications a little bit later this year.”

The five-week consultation period is running from Wednesday 05 August to Wednesday 09 September 2020, during which the local community are being asked to provide feedback on the proposals. People can find out more about the project and give their views online. To find out more about the plans for Cardiff Hendre Lakes or Cardiff Parkway visit www.cardiffhendrelakes.com.
