Law firm Blake Morgan is pleased to announce the recent appointment of John Parkinson to its business development team.

John, an experienced business development professional and manager, will head up the firm’s 16-strong team which covers business development, marketing communications, clients and markets and bids. John will be based in Southampton but present across the firm’s six offices to lead on the implementation of a strategy in the South Coast, the Thames Valley, London and Wales.

John started his career as a marketing assistant with the firm (then named White & Bowker) back in 2000, where he progressed for 10 years before departing in 2010. He has since continued to build his expertise at other law firms, including Sackers where he dealt with some of the top pension funds in the UK, and most recently at Coffin Mew where he was instrumental in the development of a sales culture.

Blake Morgan Chairman Bruce Potter said: “John’s rich experience and knowledge of the legacy and foundations of Blake Morgan, combined with his fresh outlook and strong client focus, stand him in good stead to drive our firm forward in our target markets and sectors. We are delighted to be welcoming him back to the firm.”

John said: “Ever since I began working at this firm it has always been heading in exciting directions with its strong reputation, and was a fantastic place to build my career. All of these points still remain true so many years later, and I very much look forward to jumping back in and contributing to Blake Morgan’s future growth.”

John’s arrival follows two other recent appointments who made the decision to return to Blake Morgan within the past 12 months. Dan Geddes, a senior associate and intellectual property expert, returned after a stint as a partner at another firm, and Mathew Kidwell, an energy specialist based in Cardiff, re-joined some years after completing his training contract with the firm (then Morgan Bruce) back in 1989.
