Main Areas Of Practice
We are experienced with all areas of costs law and funding for legal services and can assist with:
Recovering legal costs from your opponent
If you are awarded costs by the Court we can assist in drafting a Bill of Costs and dealing with the detailed assessment proceedings in order to recover your costs from your opponent.
Challenging the level of legal costs claimed against you by your opponent
If your opponent is awarded costs, we can challenge their entitlement to those costs and/or the level of costs claimed against you. We can deal with the negotiation of costs and proceed to challenge the claimed costs at a detailed assessment hearing in the absence of an agreement between the parties.
Preparing costs budgets and dealing with all aspects of costs management
If your case is litigated and allocated to the multi-track, the Court will usually Order parties to file and exchange costs budgets. Those budgets will be agreed between the parties or approved by the Court in order to cap legal spend throughout the case. We are able to prepare costs budgets, budget discussion reports and provide representation at case management conferences.
Dealing with the recovery of legal fees in Court of Protection cases
Court of Protection costs must be assessed by the Senior Court Costs Office. We are able to assist in drafting Court of Protection bills and delivering the same for assessment.
Providing representation at Court hearings to recover or challenge legal costs
If parties to a dispute are unable to agree costs, the case will proceed to an assessment hearing. If representation is required at that hearing, we are able to attend on your behalf.
Advising clients on the best way to fund their legal services
We are able to provide advice as to the most appropriate form of funding for your case.
Drafting funding agreements
Once you have decided how your case is to be funded, we are able to prepare the appropriate funding agreement.
