Devolution: the solution to health and care integration? A view of the Thames Valley and Solent regions
The route to effective integrated care is increasingly critical to transformation of the NHS at a time of continuing financial challenge. The 2016/17 NHS Planning Guidance, 'Delivering the Forward View' asks Health economies to define their regions to deliver service transformation. Devolved economies might offer a faster track to defining the boundaries and ambition for change.
A group of senior leaders and stakeholders from Local Government, Healthcare, Social Housing, the independent and voluntary sectors came together at a series of events hosted by Blake Morgan to explore themes around Devolution and Integration and to ask in particular:
- How realistic and achievable is the formal integration objective?
- Is formal Devolution the answer?
- How do regional characteristics influence the ability to achieve it?
