Corporate Crime & Investigations

Allegations of corporate wrongdoing can have a devastating effect on a company, its officers and employees. When such allegations do arise it is imperative that prompt action is taken and specialist advice is obtained. What is done at the outset can often be determinative of the outcome.

Corporate crime is an area of increased focus and concern for both companies and their officers as both regulators and law enforcement agencies use their powers to investigate wrongdoing and breaches of regulations.

Blake Morgan has extensive experience of advising companies and senior company officers in both investigations and proceedings by a wide range of authorities such as the Financial Conduct Authority ("FCA"), the Serious Fraud Office ("SFO"), HM Revenue and Customs ("HMRC"), the Health and Safety Executive ("HSE"), the Competition and Markets Authority ("CMA") and the police. We also advise clients in investigation by government departments. Our work is often high profile, complex and international in nature. As a full service law firm we are able to call upon experts from other teams with specialist sector knowledge to offer our clients a complete service.

We act for clients from the outset of investigations and inquiries, as well as robustly defending clients where matters are prosecuted in court or in contentious hearings by regulators, including the Regulatory Decisions Committee (RDC") of the FCA. Our in depth understanding of both criminal and regulatory investigations allows us to quickly focus on the key issues and also to address any associated areas of compliance. Our proactive approach can often significantly change the outcome.

Our experts are regularly called upon to advise companies on internal investigations and compliance matters, often in tandem with external investigations. We also offer crisis management and have a team to deal with dawn raids when they arise.

We have experience of not only representing clients in investigations in the UK but also in global investigations involving regulators and prosecuting authorities overseas.
