Blake Morgan Regulatory Partner shortlisted for Bar Council award

Posted on 1st August 2022

Clare Strickland, Partner at leading law firm Blake Morgan, has been shortlisted for the Bar Council’s prestigious Employed Bar Awards 2022 (EBAs). She is one of three finalists in the category for ‘Employed Barrister of the Year in a Law Firm’.

The EBAs recognise and reward the wealth of talent among employed barristers and their contribution to the legal profession and practice areas. They are judged by senior members of the judiciary and the profession including Chair of the Bar, Mark Fenhalls QC.

Clare is a Partner in Blake Morgan’s regulatory team, with wide experience across all aspects of regulatory law and procedure – and a special focus on the healthcare sector. She first joined the firm as a Partner in 2015, and then again in May 2021, having taken time out to serve as the Deputy Director of Professional Regulation for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). At the NMC Clare led the policy and change teams responsible for the development of their fitness to practise strategy, as well as the formation of its public support service.

Blake Morgan’s regulatory team, of which Clare is a key part, has been going from strength to strength. The team achieved a Top Tier listing for Blake Morgan’s regulatory practice in the Legal 500 for 2022, following a high-profile appointment to act for a new regulator client. Alongside the successes in the healthcare sector, the team has also seen significant expansion, including a new dedicated accountancy defence practice, and critical incident regulatory support.

The EBA winners will be announced at a dinner and ceremony on 20 October 2022 at Gray’s Inn, London.

Nick Leale, Partner and Head of Regulatory at Blake Morgan, said:

Clare’s shortlisting for this prestigious award is incredibly well deserved – reflecting all the dedicated and excellent work she has done for the team, and the trust and respect her clients have for her expert advice. It also showcases the talent we see across the regulatory team as it celebrates another strong year – from success in the Legal 500 to continued growth. Clare’s work has been key to this as she helped to grow and deepen existing client relationships and explore new avenues for expansion.
