ACCA intends to withdraw from legal services regulation

17th August 2020

Recent news from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (‘ACCA’) that it intends to withdraw from legal services regulation after becoming an active regulator in probate services in January 2018.

In a ground breaking move, ACCA has confirmed its plan to negotiate a partnership with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (‘CILEx’) for the continued regulation by CILEx Regulation of the 52 ACCA firms accredited for probate work. The move has drawn praise for its collaborative approach to enhancing independent regulation and enabling competition within the legal services market by ensuring the provision of high quality legal services.
