Exciting and varied work in the Regulatory team

17th July 2023

What is it like to work in the Regulatory team at Blake Morgan? We are running a series of articles exploring the different roles within the growing group. First up, Senior Associate Alison Wood spoke about what excites her in her job.

I am currently a senior associate in the team and my role is really exciting and varied. I tend to be involved in the more complex and high-profile cases, supervising investigations on behalf of regulators and providing support and direction to others in the team. I also have line management responsibilities and am involved in recruitment.

The work is particularly interesting and varied and the team is incredibly supportive. I work with some fantastic lawyers who are always willing to share their knowledge and insights.

I joined Blake Morgan in 2021 as an associate, being new to this area of work having previously acted for healthcare providers, specialising in defending regulatory proceedings. Undertaking investigations on behalf of regulators was a very different role, requiring a different skillset but the training provided at Blake Morgan is targeted and frequent and whilst the firm has flexible working arrangements, there is always someone to speak to, with partners being particularly approachable.

Since joining, I have been promoted to senior associate and there are clear opportunities for progression and development to operational management of clients and involvement in tenders and new initiatives. The work is very rewarding with an ability to have a very real impact on the future of regulation and the policies adopted by regulators.
