Ellie is a commercial lawyer specialising in data protection and privacy law, including, freedom of information, cybersecurity, AI, adtech and direct marketing.
Main areas of practice
Ellie regularly advises clients in the private and public sector on a range of data protection and privacy law issues. This includes advising clients on the handling of complex FOI requests, data subject access requests and data breaches. This also involves providing innovative and commercial advice regarding initiatives relating to, for example, electronic direct marketing and the use of AI in technology; and technical advice on issues, such as, the lawful basis for processing criminal convictions data. Ellie is highly experienced in managing multi-country and national GDPR compliance projects. Ellie is also experienced in providing training on privacy law issues and to different client audiences.
Ellie works closely with colleagues from other departments, including, Employment, Corporate and Commercial Litigation when providing cross-departmental advice, for example, undertaking due diligence on mergers and acquisitions.

Ellie advises a broad range of clients in the public and private sector, including national governments, local authorities, NHS bodies in Wales and England, charities, not for profit organisations, statutory bodies and private companies, from SMEs to large multi-national organisations.

Career
Ellie joined Blake Morgan as a Legal Director in April 2025.
After qualifying in 2015, Ellie has spent almost 10 years practising within the field of data protection and privacy. In addition to completing several client secondments since then, Ellie spent a year as a Privacy Counsel in-house at a global creative software developer. Ellie’s most recent role was as a Senior Associate within the IP, IT and DP team of a different law firm, in Ireland, again primarily advising on data protection and privacy issues.
