Jonathan is a Legal Director in the Regulatory Group, specialising in professional regulatory and disciplinary matters. Jonathan provides advice and representation on a wide range of allegations of professional misconduct and also sits as a legal advisor.

Main areas of practice

Jonathan has practised for over 22 years and works on professional disciplinary matters, primarily for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA), including presenting cases before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT).

Jonathan advises the SRA on a wide range of matters including investigations and proceedings in the SDT. This includes investigating cases of professional misconduct, presenting cases before the SDT and advising the SRA in the exercise of its statutory functions. Jonathan is one of the firm’s lawyers appointed to act as legal advisor to professional conduct panels of TRA.

Career

Jonathan graduated in Law and Politics (LLB) from Cardiff University in 1999. Having completed his Legal Practice Course (LPC) at Cardiff Law School in 2000, Jonathan qualified as a solicitor in 2002. He led a busy criminal legal aid department at an East London firm before joining the SDT in 2015 as a Deputy Clerk. In addition to his clerking work, Jonathan delivered effective training to Tribunal members and staff. He initiated and led the working party that resulted in the Tribunal’s first Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy. Jonathan joined Blake Morgan in 2024.
