Blake Morgan’s Reading office partners with Sport in Mind: a perfect match of values and vision

Posted on 13th May 2025

Blake Morgan’s Reading office has proudly announced Sport in Mind as its chosen office charity – a decision that reflects a deep alignment of values, purpose, and community spirit.

Sport in Mind, the UK’s leading mental health sports charity, uses physical activity to aid recovery and improve the lives of people experiencing mental health problems. Their mission is centred around breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health and offering a supportive, inclusive space for people to build confidence and wellbeing through sport. For Blake Morgan, a law firm that places employee wellbeing, community impact, and integrity at its heart, Sport in Mind is a natural partner.

Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 12-18 May, perfectly timed with the announcement of the partnership, which is set to run for at least two years. During the week, Blake Morgan’s Reading office will be holding a Picnic in the Park, giving an opportunity for staff to get outside, chat and enjoy a picnic lunch and sweet treats.

The aim of the week is to raise awareness of mental health. In 2023/24, there were 3.8 million people being treated by NHS mental health services. Mental health is the leading work-limiting health condition among people aged 44 and younger, with significant impacts on labour market participation.

Sport in Mind have continued to grow over the past year with more than 49,000 attendances across 5,970 workshops and events. The charity offers 21 different types of activities, from working on allotments and circuit training, to Tai Chi, walking and football.

Over 221 patients have attended their inpatient service with 97% of participants reporting a positive change in their wellbeing. However, more support is needed in order for Sport in Mind to make more of a difference, which is where the Reading office will aim to help through a variety of different fundraising activities and volunteering.

For Blake Morgan, this partnership is more than charitable giving though – it’s a chance to enhance the wellbeing of its own staff and benefit from Mental Health First Aider training. Involvement with Sport in Mind creates a platform for employees to engage in activities that promote mental and physical health. From group walks and runs to mindfulness sessions and activities that strengthen mental resilience. Fundraising events will be aimed at bringing people together in fun, meaningful ways while championing a cause that touches many lives.

The benefits of this partnership will aim to send a powerful message about the importance of mental health, community support, and active lifestyles. The choice of Blake Morgan’s Reading office to support Sport in Mind is a clear reflection of the firm’s broader commitment to corporate responsibility and wellbeing.

The goal of the collaboration is to demonstrate how corporate and charitable sectors can come together with purpose, heart, and a shared vision for a healthier, more supportive society.

A fundraising page has been launched where donations can be made for the various activities that will take place during the partnership.

Sport in Mind spoke about the partnership and how they can benefit Blake Morgan as well as how Blake Morgan’s assistance will help the charity.
