Welcome to this month’s edition of Private Client Issues, Blake Morgan’s monthly round-up of the topics you may find of interest. It features insight and advice on developments affecting private individuals.
As the UK continues its cautious approach to re-opening, we are focussed on providing you with a high-quality service, while working to keep our staff, clients and contacts safe. Our offices are all open but we are continuing with reduced capacity over the summer to enable social distancing to be maintained. This means employees continue to work from home, but attend the office where there is a business need. We remain happy to meet with you virtually, or in person where this is preferred. We are really proud of the way that our staff have risen to the challenge without impacting the service we provide.
Probate disputes involving estranged children
Can lack of contact sever a parent’s obligation to maintain their children from their estate? We look at a recent case involving estranged children.
The benefits of appointing a children’s guardian
What are the benefits of appointing a guardian? We look at the role of a guardian and how this can be good for children to be heard in court.
Key considerations for estate planning
Make sure that you protect your wealth, minimise any potential Inheritance Tax liability and ensure that the people you love benefit the most with estate planning.
Inheritance Act claims by children – unlucky for some
We look at the difficulties that adult children may face when making an Inheritance Act claim, even where the estate is substantial.
Crucial conversations – how to be heard
Do you know when to speak and how be heard? This was discussed in our NED Connect interactive session on 1 July with guest speaker Tamsin Napier-Munn.
If you are impacted by any of the above topics or you would like further information on how we can help you, please contact your usual Blake Morgan adviser.
