Jon specialises in information governance law and advises on data protection compliance, information sharing and freedom of information issues.

Main areas of practice

Jon has experience of drafting a range of commercial contracts, including those relating to e-commerce, IT procurement and outsourcing, website and app development and publishing.

Jon has advised clients on data protection issues in relation to the exploitation, sharing and security of personal data. He has experience of drafting various agreements relating to data products and has provided advice on the data protection implications of commercial transactions including data export and direct marketing campaigns.

Jon also advises public sector clients on their compliance with the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations.

Expertise

Career

Jon’s first degree was in Ancient History from Cardiff University.  Following a career in the civil service, including working for the Information Commissioner and the Welsh government, Jon returned to university to retrain as a solicitor.  He qualified in 2012 after training at Bond Dickinson LLP in Bristol.
