Matthew is a Solicitor in the Restructuring and Insolvency team.
Main areas of practice
Matthew advises insolvency practitioners, businesses, directors, creditors and others on corporate and personal insolvency matters. His experience includes both disputes and non-contentious work, such as administrations, liquidations, sales of insolvent businesses and assets, acting for purchasers buying businesses from insolvent companies, and insolvency-related litigation.
He works closely with clients at all stages of financial distress, providing pragmatic, prompt and commercially focused advice to maximise available options and help secure the best possible outcome.

Career
Matthew graduated with an LLB from Stellenbosch University in South Africa and subsequently achieved a Distinction in the PGDL at The University of Law. He successfully completed the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE’s) and qualified as a solicitor at Blake Morgan in September 2026.
Prior to commencing his training contract, Matthew gained valuable experience as a paralegal in the firm’s Commercial Property team. During his training contract, he completed seats in Corporate, Banking and Finance, Travel and Commercial Litigation (with a focus on Insolvency), developing experience in both contentious and transactional matters before qualifying into the Restructuring and Insolvency team.
