Blake Morgan advises on strategic investment to accelerate growth
Blake Morgan has advised on a strategic exit and new investment that will fuel the international growth strategy of specialist engineering firm Avantis Group.
The law firm’s deal team, led by Corporate partner Richard Jones, advised longstanding client the Development Bank of Wales (DBW) on the transaction, which represents a successful exit for the DBW and new investment by Leon Capital LLP, a London-based European private equity firm. Headquartered in Cardiff, Avantis Group is a provider of specialist engineering services to the maritime and energy industries with plans to expand into digital infrastructure and defence.
Avantis will continue to be led by CEO Thomas David, Chairman Chris David, and the existing leadership team, who retain both a controlling interest and full operational oversight of the business. Their leadership has been instrumental since the 2022 management buyout, supported in part by the Development Bank of Wales, which set the foundations for Avantis’ strategic transformation.
Commenting on the deal, Richard said:
It is fantastic to see the growth and evolution of Avantis Group, following the MBO in 2022, further strengthened by securing this private equity investment. We are proud to act as legal counsel to the Development Bank of Wales and work alongside Acuity Law and Reed Smith to ensure the deal is a success.
