Blake Morgan and the Suzy Lamplugh Trust partner up to make workplaces safer

Posted on 10th September 2025

Law firm Blake Morgan has partnered with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, the UK’s pioneering personal safety charity, to run a series of training sessions on making workplaces safer.

Founded in 1986 following the disappearance of 25-year-old estate agent Suzy Lamplugh, the Trust has since pioneered personal safety as both a life skill and a public policy priority. For nearly four decades the Trust has empowered workforces and the wider public to manage aggression and violence, campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness of stalking and harassment, and influenced national policy and law to create a safer society.

The Trust’s campaigning and policy work has led to key changes in legislation and practice nationally, including supporting the introduction of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997, and the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, which introduced specific offences for stalking, and the 2020 Stalking Protection Orders.

In partnership with law firm Blake Morgan, the Trust has now developed a new series of training sessions for employers, which focuses on the importance of both culture and legislation in driving behavioural change and tackling sexual and other forms of harassment in the workplace. The series will draw on the expertise of Blake Morgan’s leading employment law team.

The majority of the sessions will be delivered as an online, on-demand service, which can be hosted on an employer’s own systems, or the Suzy Lamplugh Trust’s Learning Management System (LMS), offering flexibility for firms.

The training will provide clarity both on the legal obligations of employers, through legislation including the Workers Protection Act which amends the Equality Act 2010, and learning on how a wider continuum of behaviours – including bullying, hate crimes, victimisation, and stalking – can have serious, lasting impacts on individuals and workplace culture. Businesses will also have the option to commission a 90-minute, in-person awareness talk as part of this programme.

The training sessions are designed to support employers in meeting their existing obligations under the Equality Act 2010, which requires them to take reasonable steps to prevent the sexual harassment of their employees. From October 2026, the Employment Rights Bill will strengthen this duty by making it a mandatory requirement for employers to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment. These sessions are intended to form part of the steps employers can take now, while also preparing them to comply fully with the mandatory requirements to be introduced by the Employment Rights Bill.

From Blake Morgan, the initiative will be led by Jaden Cramer, associate at the law firm’s London office, and the initiative is part of the firm’s commitment to be an exemplar in diversity and inclusivity practices, which is being steered by Chair and Senior EDI Champion, Helen Bunker. Jaden is working in partnership with Arad Parsi, Director of Business and Partnerships from the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.

Blake Morgan has been ranked in The Inclusive Top 50 Employers for eight consecutive years, including in the most recent 2024/25 list.

Employers that are interested in receiving this training for their own organisations are encouraged to get in contact via email at [email protected].

Helen Bunker, Chair and Senior EDI Champion at Blake Morgan, said:

We’re really proud to be able to work with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust to deliver this training, which we hope will be a useful resource for employers as we collectively aim to create safer workplaces for all.

Our firm’s legal expertise, combined with the Trust’s powerful campaigning to influence public policy, means we can offer a well-rounded programme that is distinctive, inclusive, and practical.

Suzy Bhaker, CEO of Suzy Lamplugh Trust, said:

As specialists in personal safety and Violence Against Women and Girls, we are proud to be partnering with leading law firm Blake Morgan to develop this pioneering, legally approved training on sexual harassment in the workplace.

Not only is this content aimed at being one of the reasonable steps to address sexual harassment in the workplace required by the Equality Act 2010, it empowers employers to cultivate a culture where every employee feels safe, respected and able to thrive.
