Blake Morgan’s Cardiff office has raised more than £10,000 for Wales Air Ambulance, surpassing its fundraising target and bringing a successful two-year Charity of the Year partnership to a close.
The UK law firm presented a cheque for £10,367 to Wales Air Ambulance during a visit to Cardiff Heliport on 20 July. Colleagues Lee Fisher, Isabelle Mann and Menglin Li attended the presentation, alongside Abi Pearce, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Wales Air Ambulance.
The final total exceeded the office’s original fundraising target of £10,000 and includes donations collected through the charity’s donation box.
Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and, if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Wales Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations to raise the £13 million required every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency critical care.
Over the course of the partnership, colleagues across Blake Morgan’s Cardiff office came together to support a wide range of fundraising initiatives.
Activities included welcoming a Wales Air Ambulance crew member and former patient to learn more about the charity’s work, alongside a coastal path walk, the Taff Trail trek, sporting sweepstakes and a festive partner auction.
The fundraising effort reflects the firm’s commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates and demonstrates the enthusiasm of colleagues for making a positive impact beyond the workplace.
Delme Griffiths, CSR Partner at Blake Morgan, said:
We are incredibly proud to have supported Wales Air Ambulance over the past two years and delighted to have exceeded our fundraising target.
The charity provides an essential service to communities across Wales, and it has been a privilege for colleagues across our Cardiff office to contribute to its important work.
This achievement is the result of a fantastic team effort. From sponsored walks and fundraising events to donations and volunteering support, colleagues have embraced the partnership and helped raise vital funds for a cause that means so much to so many people.
Abi Pearce, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Wales Air Ambulance, said:
We are extremely grateful to everyone at Blake Morgan's Cardiff office for their support over the past two years.
Fundraising partnerships like this are very important! They not only raise key funds but also raise awareness of the standard of prehospital care we are providing each day.
We can continue to be there for the people of Wales, whenever and wherever they need us, because of collaborations like this.
Raising more than £10,000 is a fantastic achievement and will make a lifesaving difference. Diolch yn fawr!
The partnership concludes having raised valuable funds and awareness for one of Wales’ most recognisable charities, helping to support its mission of bringing hospital-standard care directly to patients at the scene of serious illness or injury.
