Blake Morgan celebrates large increase in number of recommended lawyers in Legal 500 (2017)

Posted on 11th October 2017
Leading law firm Blake Morgan is celebrating a strong presence in the 2017 edition of the prestigious Legal 500 directory for its London teams.

The directory, just published, reviews the strengths of lawyers in London and across the UK, and recommends them based on how they are seen by clients and their peers.

Two London-based Partners are named as Leading Individuals – the highest accolade the Legal 500 can give. Bradley Albuery, credited for his expertise in dispute resolution, is described as “fabulous” and “undoubtedly a leader in the field”.

Ian Skuse, partner in the Commercial team, is noted for his specialism in travel and airline commercial issues. In total, more than 40 London-based Blake Morgan lawyers are listed by the directory as recommended.

Several practice areas at Blake Morgan’s London offices are highly praised in the guide, with the firm’s strengths in Licensing, Travel Regulatory and Commercial, Franchising, Healthcare, Charities, Professional Discipline and Mergers and Acquisitions valued up to £50m all earning a Tier 2 ranking.

The results reflect the firm’s deep understanding of its clients’ sectors and the regional markets they operate in. The directory notes: “Blake Morgan attracts praise for the impressive breadth and depth of legal talent housed within the team whose expertise and depth of capability is excellent. The firm provides a truly exceptional level of service in an efficient and friendly manner, and the team is always supportive, accommodating and flexible to all requests that are made, which allows the client to make an effective and informed decision.”

It adds that “Clients have a deep reservoir of goodwill for the firm as a result of its ‘exemplary service’ code of practice, its heritage and the access it provides to expertise, resource and sector specialisms”.

Lawrence Phillips, Blake Morgan Regional Senior Partner for London, said: “We are delighted with these results, which demonstrate the specialist knowledge and strength and depth of service offered by our talented teams in London and those across the firm.

“The directory results underline our continued growth and success this year and the expertise and professionalism that has been recognised by our clients and peers.”

A total of 38 lawyers from across Blake Morgan’s offices in England and Wales were named elite “leading lawyers” and, significantly, 159 Blake Morgan lawyers were listed as “recommended” – a large increase on 103 in the previous year.

The Legal 500 placed 33 of the firm’s practice areas in its top-rated Tier 1 ranking – among them Corporate and Commercial, Dispute Resolution, Private Client, Commercial Property, Employment, Health, Education, Pensions, Local Government, Social Housing, Intellectual Property, and IT and Telecoms.
