Internal Communications Executive
We have a new opportunity for an Internal Communications Executive to join our Marketing team. The successful candidate may be based out of our Southampton or Reading offices.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, your role will be to use our internal communications channels to promote activity within Blake Morgan to our colleagues, and to support in communicating our values.
We support hybrid working, typically with 2-3 days flexible office attendance, according to business need. We are happy to consider applications from job share candidates, and to consider flexible working within the context of the organisation’s needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Management of the firm’s intranet, drafting content and editing and posting articles and newsletters from the legal and business support services teams
- Ensuring that the content in the toolbox including policies, resources and important information on the intranet is kept up-to-date, and troubleshooting any issues which arise with the system
- Liaising with intranet provider to ensure the smooth running and efficiency of the intranet
- Maintaining a pipeline of good news stories for the intranet, proactively seeking out stories to share to raise awareness of the breadth of experience within the firm and to foster a sense of pride and belonging amongst colleagues
- Management of key internal communications campaigns including HR, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, GDPR and Infosec, building relationships with key contacts across the business to assist with this
- Drive improvements to deliver return on investment from the intranet, with a focus on improving engagement, facilitating cross team collaboration, reducing time spent searching for information, and maximising use of the features available on the intranet
- Develop and implement the internal communications strategy – identifying opportunities and presenting ideas to improve internal communications across the firm
- Performing a bi-annual internal communications survey to monitor performance of internal communications within the firm, and making recommendations in response to the key findings
- Assist in organising and running our regular Q&A internal webinars with our Managing Partner and any additional internal webinars using GoToWebinar software
- Coordination of our legal directory submissions and rankings
- Updating our PR coverage logs and providing daily internal reports on media activity
- Occasional filming and editing of video content for internal use
- Maintaining list of marketing assets, coordinating regular audit of content, amendments and sign off when changes are required
- Liaising with external designers on creation of design materials
- Responsible for managing the marketing team’s credit card
- Working closely with other members of the marketing team to ensure internal and external messaging are aligned are colleagues are kept up to date
- Ensuring the firm’s visual identity and style guides are followed in all internal communications
- Assisting the Head of Marketing and other members of the marketing team with ad-hoc duties as and when required
Skills / Experience Required
- Demonstrable experience in assessing the suitability of communications for their audience and considering their impact on a variety of audiences
- Ability to draft and tailor communications appropriately and referring to senior managers for guidance as appropriate.
- Good standard of English and Maths
- High level of initiative
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong writing, editing and proof-reading skills
- Experience of intranet systems would be an advantage
- Ability to build strong, positive internal relationships
- High levels of organisation
- Experience in writing and editing internal communications would be an advantage
- Ability to communicate the firm’s vision and values to colleagues in a clear and engaging manner
- Confident learning and using online software
- Understanding of, and eye for, visual design and layout of communications
- Ability to make recommendations for internal communications activity based on understanding of sensitivities and requirements of various internal audiences as well as using statistical data to inform decision making
- Experience using design software such as Canva and video editing software would be helpful
- IT literate – MS office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to create surveys using third party software such as Microsoft Forms
- Understands and complies with Information Security responsibilities commensurate with this role including Data Protection and the duty of confidentiality
