Legal Support Assistant


We have a new opportunity for a Legal Support assistant to join our Property practice in London. The role will ideally suit someone seeking a foothold in a legal career within a firm, with a view to developing into a Paralegal role with ambition to seek qualification in the future.

The position will initially be based full-time from our London office, with scope for working 1 day a week from home once probation is complete.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Providing administrative and legal support to assigned fee earners, including timely dealing with dictations and email instructions
  • Assisting and working cooperatively with other LSAs to provide support to other/non-assigned fee earners as appropriate
  • Opening and closing files – running conflict checks, obtaining AML documents, creating the e-file and all relevant sub-files. Organising deeds/documents and accounts/billing and archiving
  • Initial and ongoing conduct of matters – preparing template letters of engagement and terms of business. Dealing with queries raised by search providers, liaising with the Post Completions Manager regarding drafting and preparation of LR and SDLT documents
  • Organisation of documents including printing and bundling of documents and engrossments, scanning and organising e-files; timely sending counterparts to relevant parties and/or uploading to relevant client extranets, creating deeds packets
  • Accounts/billing responsibilities including dealing with accounts on receipts for monies in and out in accordance with our regulatory requirements. Preparing reports, allocating disbursements to matters, preparing draft bills for fee earners’ approval and managing the bill issuance process
  • Collating, analysis and reporting of data as required by fee earners/clients
  • Organising conference and meeting arrangements
  • Assist with internal team communications
  • Attend and participate in legal training sessions
  • Participating with Business Development & Marketing as appropriate

Skills / Experience Required

The position will ideally suit a recent graduate looking to develop their career in law. A demonstrable interest or experience in the Property area would be desirable. Other skills should include:

  • IT literate with the ability to adapt to new technologies and systems
  • Intermediate in use of Word, Outlook and Excel, Teams, Zoom
  • Excellent communication skills are essential (oral and written)
  • A flexible team focused approach – able to work productively with Partners and staff across the team
  • Able to engage fully with clients and other professional and organisation contacts to provide an excellent service
  • Strong organisational skills and a good level of numeracy
  • A comfort with multi-tasking and prioritising your work
  • A positive and enthusiastic approach combined with a willingness to learn
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
