Stop press: New data protection rules to apply from 25 May 2018

Posted by Jon Belcher on
The timetable for Europe-wide reform of data protection legislation has finally been set.

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been published today in the Official Journal of the EU and will apply from 25 May 2018.  This means that organisations now have a little over two years to prepare for the changes.  The GDPR will replace the UK's Data Protection Act and represents a significant enhancement of data protection rules.  It is very important for all organisations that handle information about individuals to familiarise themselves with the new rules and start preparing for the changes.
