Blake Morgan runners raise hospital funds
A Blake Morgan team of 13 runners braved wind and rain to raise more than £1,500 for charities in the OX5 running challenge.
The team members were among 1,001 finishers to complete the five-mile race at Blenheim Palace on Sunday (March 29) to raise money for Oxford Children’s Hospital.
Their fundraising combined with a £500 donation from Blake Morgan takes the total raised to an impressive £1,664 – and donations are still coming in.
Among the runners were Sara Thompson, solicitor in Blake Morgan’s Oxford employment team, who featured in the Oxford Mail in the run-up to the event.
Sara’s son William received specialist care from the children’s hospital when he was a baby. William, now 16, ran the race with his mother and his older sister, Joanna.
Despite the poor conditions, the Blake Morgan team members posted some impressive times – particularly William, who was the fastest of the group and was placed 118th in the race overall.
Alison Craggs, associate in Blake Morgan’s succession and tax team in Oxford, said: “The fastest person in the whole event did it in 31 minutes so William's time is excellent as are all of ours given the awful wind and rain. Several of us crossed the line together.”
