This case issued an important reminder of the importance of pleading dishonesty in proceedings whereby a panel or tribunal may be inclined to make such a finding.  It is true that a solicitor can still be struck off on a finding of lack of integrity (Hoodless and Blackwell v SFA). However, if a tribunal is to make such a finding it must be cautioned against wandering into the field of dishonesty without having been directed to do so.
