Queen's Birthday extension of licensing hours

Posted on
Licensing hours will be automatically extended on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th June until 1am to celebrate the Queen's birthday.

The arrangements are the same as those for the Queen's Jubilee, the Royal Wedding and World Cup. Premises in England & Wales that are licensed for the sale of alcohol on the premises will be covered and need not apply for a Temporary Event Notice to keep trading until 1am.

The relaxation only covers on sales of alcohol, which means that if you use a beer garden using an on/off sales permission, customers will have to come inside after 11pm. Remember that all the conditions and restrictions on your licence will continue to apply during the extra hours.

Sporting reasons to stay open late include Euro 16, the Canadian Grand Prix, the England v Sri Lanka 3rd Test at Lords and the start of the international rugby union summer season. The Government's decision has been warmly welcomed, with a BBPA spokesman estimating a £20 million boost for the pub trade across England & Wales.
