Lawyers rise to the occasion in charity bake off competition

Lawyers from Southampton law firm Blake Lapthorn have taken part in a charity Bake Off style competition to raise money for charity.

Staff were asked to create delicious sweet treats with an Easter theme, in the competition which took place on April 1. The entries were judged by representatives from the firm’s chosen charities, The Rainbow Centre in Fareham and The Haven in Wessex Appeal.

The winners of the competition were Sue Talt the Coroners Administrator for the most creative entry, Lauren Saunders from the Real Estate team for the most Easter themed cake and James Hawkeswood from the Corporate team for best presentation.
The staff also took part in a Wear a Colour Day which combined with the Bake Off, has raised £338 which will be split between the Haven in Wessex appeal and The Rainbow Centre. Blake Lapthorn has already raised £1168 towards their £20,000 fundraising target for the year.

The Rainbow Centre in Fareham supports children with Cerebral Palsy and adults who have suffered a stroke, MS or Parkinson’s disease and their families.

The Haven is a national charity which provides free, one-to-one emotional and physical support and therapies to improve the lives of people affected by breast cancer. Blake Lapthorn is raising money to help the charity build a new centre in Wessex, which will serve Dorset, South Wiltshire, Hampshire, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight and parts of West Sussex.

Blake Lapthorn staff are taking part in a range of fundraising activities for their chosen charities this year, the next event will be the Winchester Rotary Swimathon which takes place at Winchester College on Saturday April 12.
