Case Examiners introduced to protect patients (General Dental Council 01.11.16)

A series of fundamental improvements to the General Dental Council’s (GDC) fitness to practise process to better protect patients are introduced today (1 November 2016).

Case Examiners will now carry out the decision making functions currently performed by the Investigating Committee.

Guidance on complaints and incidents in homecare services published (General Pharmaceutical Council 10.11.16)

As homecare is often a shared care arrangement involving multiple organisations, it is important that complaints processes which allow the sharing, reporting and learning from complaints is in place and integrated between all parties involved in order to ensure that complaints are received, recorded, investigated, acted upon and reviewed in order to support patient care.

New requirements for pharmacy professionals to demonstrate English language skills come into force (General Pharmaceutical Council 21.11.16)

A new law comes into force today which introduces a requirement for all pharmacy professionals to provide evidence that they have the necessary skills in English language to practise safely and effectively.
