Blake Morgan confirm membership of the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse

Posted on 3rd December 2025

Blake Morgan is proud to announce that they are members of the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA), reinforcing the firm’s commitment to supporting colleagues affected by domestic abuse.

Liz Bryne, HR & Development Director at Blake Morgan, has also signed the EIDA HR Charter.

Domestic abuse is extremely complex, difficult to identify and further challenged by the negative stigma that surrounds it. Around one in five UK employees experience domestic abuse and the workplace can be one of the few safe spaces where someone experiencing abuse can seek help. Employers have a responsibility to ensure their environment supports those who need it.

Domestic abuse profoundly affects the wellbeing, safety and lives of those experiencing it. According to EIDA’s research, nearly 9 out of 10 workers experiencing domestic abuse said it impacted their performance at work. By signing the EIDA HR Charter, Liz Bryne has made a personal commitment to raise awareness of domestic abuse and take effective action within our firm.

This commitment and membership sits naturally alongside the law firm’s existing EDI work. Blake Morgan is proud to be the only law firm in the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers list, demonstrating their long-standing dedication to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. The EIDA HR Charter extends this commitment, ensuring they provide comprehensive support across all aspects of colleague wellbeing.

By signing the EIDA HR Charter, Liz Bryne commits to:

  • Promoting domestic abuse policies and guidance
  • Creating safe spaces, both physical and digital, to make it easier for people to come forward
  • Appointing and training domestic abuse champions within the firm
  • Introducing ongoing communications to promote awareness and break down stigma
  • Ensuring colleagues know how to access support.

Signatories have access to EIDA’s tools, resources and events, enabling them to the provide the most effective support possible.

Speaking about the commitment, Liz said:

Signing the HR Charter and becoming members of EIDA demonstrates our determination as a firm to be an employer where everyone feels safe, supported and able to reach their full potential. Domestic abuse is not limited by gender, sexual orientation or relationship status – it can impact anyone, at any time and engaging with EIDA is a major step in expanding our duty of care for all colleagues.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, support is available. You can contact the National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247.

White Ribbon Day and 16 Days of Activism

White Ribbon Day was recently marked and commenced 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence – it runs until Human Rights Day on 10 December.

White Ribbon is the UK’s leading charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women and girls. The campaign recognises that all men can be part of the solution by challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours. The 16 Days of Activism is this year focussing on online abuse, with resources and information here. As part of the campaign, EIDA is sharing powerful personal experiences throughout the 16 Days of Activism.
