Blake Morgan are proud to support the Grade1athon for Home-Start Oxford
This Sunday, a collective of accomplished musicians will take to the stage to perform as an orchestra using instruments they were been given only nine weeks ago. This family friendly event is being run in aid of raising much needed funds for Home-Start Oxford, one of the leading family support charities in the UK.
The event is the culmination of a challenge that pits Oxford and Cambridge musicians against one another in a 'note race' to see which city will be able to get the most musicians to achieve Grade 1 competency in their new instruments. In Oxford, over 87 musicians have been recruited, including two from the prestigious Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and have already raised an impressive £23,746.
Orchestral pieces have been composed for the “beginners”, with help from John Lubbock OBE of the Orchestra of St John’s and his wife, the singer Christine Cairns.
Doors open at 18:00 on Sunday 10th September at the Oxford Town Hall, with pre-concert entertainment includes a 'blow, bang and bow' event which gives people the chance to try out a variety of instruments. Tickets are £5.50 for adults and free for children under 5. To purchase tickets in advance, please click here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/410881
