Equality Act is not a burden according to recent report

Posted on
A recent survey published by the Government Equalities Office into the impact that the Equality Act 2010 has had on businesses showed that 90% of businesses surveyed viewed equality in the workplace as a benefit as opposed to a burden.

The survey also found that 76% of businesses "saw reputation as an important driver of business behaviour in relation to equality".

Those surveyed were primarily small and medium size businesses and around 1,800 organisations were involved. Worryingly, however, two-thirds of those businesses were unaware of the Act and many smaller businesses said they found it difficult to obtain information on equality issues. The British Chambers of Commerce in association with the GEO has organised a national road show "Business is Good for Equality" focusing on small businesses and the road show runs until 7 March.
