April deadline for new law on legal highs
Legal highs are set to become illegal on 6 April 2016 under the new Psychoactive Substances Act 2016, which received Royal Assent in January. In People Management, Stefano Damiani discusses what changes the Act makes and how employers should react when considering their policies on substance misuse.
This is a change which has gone relatively under the radar, but employers should make sure their policies and procedures take full advantage of the new prohibition of legal highs – which have, until now, presented some difficulties for employers when it comes to discipline and dismissal.
