Posted on 9th February 2021

Blake Morgan’s property team have advised foremost sight loss charity, the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), on the sale of their headquarters at 105 Judd St, WC1, in the heart of London’s Knowledge Quarter.

Buyers Montrose Land, and property investment company, AshbyCaptial, have acquired the five-storey Edwardian building for a comprehensive refurbishment to create an innovative office development primarily aimed at companies in the life sciences sector and knowledge economy.

The building is being sold by the RNIB as part of a modernisation programme aimed at meeting the 21st Century needs of blind and partially sighted people. A proportion of the funds raised through the sale will be used to relocate to a new, fully-accessible central London office that better meets the needs of its customers and staff. The Blake Morgan team led by James Egan and Gareth Howlett worked on the transaction for over six months, delivering the transaction in the most challenging environment to help secure a bright future for the RNIB.

Blake Morgan’s relationship with the RNIB spans over five years, with the firm providing expert legal advice on property, litigation, commercial, governance, banking and corporate issues.
