Blake Morgan announce new Inclusion Champions

Posted on 16th February 2022

Blake Morgan are delighted to announce two new Inclusion Champions to the firm’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Committee.

Dominic Jones, a Partner in the Construction team, based in Oxford, is the new Ethnicity & Belief Inclusion Champion and takes over this role from Rajiv Joshi. Thank you to Rajiv for your support and contribution to the EDI Committee. Dominic is already an active member of the Ethnicity & Belief Networking Group, and is currently working with Rajiv and the committee to handover and shape this year’s action plan. Dominic said:

It's a real honour and responsibility to take on this role. I'm looking forward to challenging myself and others to push for a genuinely inclusive culture that makes Blake Morgan an even better firm for our people and clients. As a white man, I'm very conscious that we need to see more faces that don't look like mine where we work. It is also important that we give everyone – of all faiths and none – recognition and belonging in our community. The EDI Committee really benefits from the energy and enthusiasm of so many people who contribute to the change we're looking to promote – so thanks to everyone who is involved already, and I hope to hear and learn from even more voices in the coming weeks and months.

Liz Bryne, HR & Development Director, based in Southampton, takes over as the Gender Inclusion Champion. Liz has been part of the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee for a number of years and now takes over this role, which was previously held by Blake Morgan Chair Kath Shimmin. Liz will help drive forward the initiatives the committee has already started and continue to develop and advance what they can do in this area. Liz will work closely with the A-Gender Network too.

Liz commented: “I was delighted to be asked to take on the Gender Champion role and will be drawing on all the experience I have gained from working with our fantastic EDI Committee over the past few years. We have a thriving A-Gender Network and it’s a privilege to be able to support them with future campaigns and events. I will also be driving forward the commitments we made when we signed up to the Women in Law Pledge last year.”
