Blake Morgan South Coast teams celebrate top rankings in Chambers and Partners Guide 2022

Posted on 28th October 2021

Blake Morgan’s South Coast teams are celebrating after securing rankings within 15 categories in the 2022 edition of the Chambers and Partners Guide. The Guide, which recognises and recommends the best-performing lawyers and legal firms across the UK, also picked out 21 individual South Coast lawyers for particular praise – highlighting the firm’s wide range of specialisms and its consistent ability to deliver a best-in-class service.

A broad range of disciplines was recognised as the highest performing, with the Banking and Finance, Intellectual Property, Pensions and Professional Negligence teams awarded Band 1 ranking. A further nine teams achieved Band 2 ranking, including Agriculture & Rural Affairs, Family/Matrimonial, Construction, Employment and Travel: Regulatory & Commercial.

There was special praise for the firm’s Band 1 ranked and ‘highly regarded’ Pensions team, while clients of the Band 1 Professional Negligence team were impressed by the high quality of legal solutions and standard of service provided against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chambers and Partners Guide also recognises lawyers who are leaders in their fields. Of the 21 lawyers from Blake Morgan’s South Coast office ranked this year, 11 were placed in either Band 1 or Band 2. Among them was the Band 1 ranked and ‘knowledgeable’ Jill Bainbridge, plus the ‘extremely thorough’ Simon Burge who is praised for his ‘highly structured’ approach.

Also ranked in the top Band 1 was ‘highly experienced’ Kath Shimmin who is established as a ‘go-to Partner’, and Richard Portlock from the Professional Negligence team. The rankings also acknowledged the South Coast’s stars of the future, with Anna Larbi, Ben Evans and Jennifer Williamson among the seven ranked as either ‘associates to watch’ or ‘up and coming’.

Across Blake Morgan’s five UK offices the Guide ranked 41 teams as Band 1 or 2, while 63 individual lawyers were ranked – 16 of whom were placed within the highest band. These rankings highlight the strength and depth of the talent coming through at the firm.

Kath Shimmin, Chair at Blake Morgan, said:

It’s always pleasing to see the consistent high performance of so many South Coast teams and individual lawyers being recognised. To have achieved so many high rankings in the Guide shows our dedication to our clients and is testament once again to the broad and best-in-class offering Blake Morgan is able to provide.

It is especially rewarding to see so many South Coast lawyers being personally acknowledged in the Guide. These individuals will undoubtedly progress through their careers and play a key part in continuing Blake Morgan’s longstanding tradition of providing a leading service to our clients.
